Release checklist
App Store Screenshot Release Checklist
A printable App Store screenshot release checklist covering product truth, privacy, copy, order, localization, file requirements, review, upload, and verification.
Short answer
A screenshot set is ready only when its claims match the visible app, private information is removed, the first three images explain the product, every locale is reviewed, files match Apple’s rules, and the uploaded set is verified after processing.
Product truth and privacy
- ☐ Every source screen comes from the current app or an explicitly labeled concept.
- ☐ Every caption is supported by the visible UI.
- ☐ No ranking, time-saving, pricing, or performance claim lacks evidence.
- ☐ Names, messages, balances, contact details, and account information are fictional.
- ☐ You own or have permission to use every logo, photo, and visual element.
Copy, order, and visual review
- ☐ Screenshot one names the main outcome.
- ☐ Screenshots two and three show interaction and differentiation.
- ☐ Captions are readable on a physical phone without zooming.
- ☐ No headline or source screen is repeated accidentally.
- ☐ Frames, device class, palette, typography, and spacing are consistent.
- ☐ The UI remains large enough to recognize and trust.
Files and localizations
- ☐ One to 10 screenshots are selected for each intended set.
- ☐ Every file is JPEG or PNG with an accepted width and height.
- ☐ PNG files contain no alpha channel or transparency.
- ☐ Portrait and landscape files are grouped under the intended display family.
- ☐ Localized captions match localized UI and reading direction.
- ☐ The primary-language fallback is intentional where a locale has no custom set.
Review, publish, and verify
- ☐ The exact app, platform, editable version, locale, and display type are selected.
- ☐ The final ordered review is saved before replacement.
- ☐ A human explicitly approves the production write.
- ☐ The publish or upload identifier is retained.
- ☐ Every expected file reports uploaded and processed.
- ☐ The App Store Connect preview shows the intended order before submission.
